Kayston had his first basketball game of the season last Saturday and before we left I asked him if he was excited. He said he was but he was more nervous. I asked him why and he said because he's not very good and that he's never even made a basket. This is true! Last season he never made a basket and when he played soccer for 2 seasons he never scored a goal! I am not a competitive person so of course I wasn't upset or bothered that he didn't score a goal! After all, he is my child! I am not a very coordinated person and in the past haven't been the best at sports or even dance.
He is so tall and when he runs he is all over the place! I love it and as long as he is having fun that is all that matters to me! However, I did start to notice that it was starting to bother him that he wasn't ever scoring any points for his teams!
After he told me that last Saturday I just told him to not worry and that he will make a basket soon!
Well, not even half way in to the game, he was passed the ball. Instead of hurrying to try and get rid of it he threw it and ACTUALLY MADE A BASKET!!! I'm pretty sure I jumped clear out of my seat I was SO excited for him! And yes, I even teared up a little! We couldn't believe it, especially since he only had one practice before their game!
This must have given him a huge boost of confidence because a little later he shot again and made another basket! WHAT?! 2 baskets in one game?! We were ecstatic and so was he! He couldn't stop smiling and the rest of the day he kept talking about it asking stuff like "which basket do you think was harder for me to get?" And, "do you think I made more baskets than so and so?" I loved it! We are so proud of Kayston and he is turning into such a good kid!
The other day I had to meet with one of his teachers and principle and they had nothing but good to say about him. I can't tell you how many times I've left these meeting with tears in my eyes only hearing the negative. This time I also left with tears but instead they were tears of JOY! So so proud!!!
The other day the girls wanted to have a tea party with "real food"! After they got everything set up just right I heard Brylee say as I was putting the snacks away that before they ate that they needed to say a prayer. I hurried back and snuck this picture...
Meegies said the cutest prayer blessing their food and their animals and that they could have a fun tea party! Moments like these make me realize that I am indeed doing SOMETHING right!
