Holy SMOKE!!!

Thursday morning a small fire was started by some target shooters up in the hills across from our neighborhood. We saw it and drove up by it but it didn't look like it was too serious. Yesterday morning when we woke up it looked like it was pretty much out. In fact, I heard that they were just letting it burn for a while to help prevent future fires.
This was taken first thing Friday morning...
Well, not even an hour later the winds picked up and this is what it looked like!
Kayston didn't believe me that this was the sun. He said it had to be some kind of star or something.

They had already set up a command post or staging area at the park across the street from us.
It got pretty scary there for a while! Over 600 homes had to be evacuated and so far over 5500 acres has burned. YIKES! This morning when we woke up it looked like it was pretty much contained. The skies are blue which is a big change from yesterday where you could barely even see the school across the street. As of right now, they're still trying to get it under control. It's been pretty cool living right in the center of all the excitement. Except I have also felt guilty especially when I see stuff like this....

Here it is almost 100 degrees outside and they are sleeping in tents under the scorching sun! They were also sleeping outside over night some without even a tent, just a sleeping bag on the grass.
I am so thankful for all the brave men and women that are working around the clock to keep or homes and neighborhoods protected. Even though I never worried too much about our own home, I have several friends that had to evacuate and came really close to losing their homes.
We're crossing our fingers they'll get this fire out and everyone will be able to return to their homes!

Let the Summer fun begin...

We've already had so much fun this Summer and it's only just begun!! My kids LOVE the water so pretty much everyday that's all they want to do!!
On this day, we brought out the sprinkler and invited some friends and they all had SO much fun!!

Kenley was so funny with the water! I was afraid she would hate it cause of how bad she hated it last year but it only took a few minutes before she was soaking wet!
 Popsicle break!!
I gave Kenley her very own otter pop....
She thought she was pretty big!
Love having such awesome friends and neighbors!
 Then...
to celebrate school getting out, my mom decided to rent a BIG bouncy water slide for the kids and eventually her WHOLE neighborhood. Just another reason that makes our Gramma the best Gramma EVER!! She's always doing fun things for the kids. We sure are lucky!!
Awww, I was spraying miss Kenley with Sunscreen and got some in her eyes. She had a pretty bad reaction and the poor girl was miserable. I felt like such a crappy mom.

The boys were crazy!! I think Kayston went down the slide probably 100 times and not one time was the same as the last!
It wasn't too long before Cami and I got board of just watching so we joined in on the fun!
I'll be the first to admit that these aren't the most flattering pictures, but guess what??? I had so much fun that I could care less how I look!
This probably wasn't the smartest idea we had but we laughed so hard it was worth it in the end!
I think we might have a little too much fun!!
Oh my! Such fun times! Even though I've never been a fan of Summer break, I am excited for lots more days like these!!! Bring on the Summer fun!!

A girl and her baby......

I went in to wake Kenley up from her nap and this is what I found...
I mean really, can it get any sweeter??
